One Mission - Producing Exceptional Coffee and Helping People

Producing Exceptional Coffee

We are big on creating what we call "Coffee Converts".  A coffee conversion occurs when a person tastes an exceptional coffee for the first time and never wants to go back to the canned coffee in the super market or the mass produced burnt coffee they get from the many well known but to be un-named coffee chains.  We know our coffee will make you a "Coffee Convert" because our coffee is high altitude, shade grown in a closely maintained 5 layer canopy (good for wildlife and working conditions), 100% organic growing practices, is fresh water processed from mountain springs on our farm, then fermented for 36 hours (2 times the norm), and then sun dried.  We have been producing this way since our grandfather Don Roman bought the farm in the 1940s.  But the real difference comes from our "Double Pass Gold Standard" TM.  Approximately less than 1% of the worlds coffee can be called grade one. Nicaraguan gold is in this category and yet we believe we are blazing the trail for a new standard above grade one.  We call it our "Double Pass Gold Standard" TM.   Where most grade one producers have their coffee inspected to remove any visible defects via a single pass, we take the time and expense to go through a second pass, by hand. to ensure a superior coffee.  This is how we are becoming known for the exceptionally smooth body and clean finish on our coffee.

Helping People

As a business we are committed to serving those who help us grow our coffee and those who live in desperate poverty in and around the Matagalpa Nicaragua region.  Our passion  is to growing and roasting truly exceptional  coffee so that in turn we can provide food, shelter, healthcare, employment and love to the most needy.

With this mission Cafe de Apante is taking at least 15% of our annual profits and investing in the lives of the people in our farming community of Matagalpa Nicaragua.  Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the western hemisphere just above Haiti.  The need in Nicaragua is tremendous, and we are committed to do our part in helping break the cycle of poverty.

Currently we are focusing on three projects:

A free mobile medical clinic staffed by North American medical mission teams, a small hospital for more advanced procedures like surgery, and increasing employment of our farm workers by reinvesting in our farm production, thus enabling year round hiring and increase in help at harvest time.
